BFF one month

Our latest song BFF has been out for about a month now and I feel so happy with the blog support we’ve gotten!! The reviews of our song have been very uplifting and encouraging.

For a number of reasons, we decided to go the DIY promotion route, like we did with our first EP. Here are two blogs that are helping us get our music out there in the world. Feel free to click the links to see what they said about BFF 🙂

Through My Headphones

Backseat Mafia

One of the biggest rewards of writing a song is sharing it with others, but this is the part that most bands (including us) struggle with. We grateful for the support that is helping us do what we love!

Here is BFF for anyone who hasn’t had a chance to hear it yet:

Sacred Grounds Coffee House Tampa

Sacred Grounds is such a unique coffee shop in Tampa located just down the street from Busch Gardens! A detailed menu of specialty drinks, shelves filled with books, board games, and artwork, the stage lined with instruments, a full PA system, colorful tapestries strewn across the walls, a fish take set in between two large windows that look out onto Busch Blvd and the nicest sweetest most welcoming owner, Karen. It was our first time playing music in a coffee shop that was so special and supportive of the arts!! We had a lot of fun playing our songs for everyone and we definitely want to come back to Tampa and play here again in 2015 🙂

The Rungs at Sacred Grounds Coffee Shop Tampa

Friday 12/26 at Sacred Grounds Coffee, Tampa FL

The last time Diwas and I were in Florida was just before we formed something that could be called a band. If I remember correctly, it was springtime a few years ago. We were hanging out in the kitchen of my mom’s house having a lazy vacation morning and I checked my email, or facebook messages, to find a show invite. Diwas had been playing solo shows in Ithaca that year, and I jumped up to sing with him every now and then. Whatever it was when we did songs together, our friend was inviting us to play a show with other local bands and wondering what name he should use for our act on the bill.

Flash forward to now, we’re ‘The Rungs’ and we’re back in Florida to play a show this Friday!!!

Sacred Grounds Coffee Shop is where we will be Friday 12/26 at 9pm.

…..So obviously that is where you should be too 🙂 Here is the FB EVENT

I’m writing this from the road, my first smartphone blog post! We’re on our way to our next show, which is tonight at The Cave in Chapel Hill NC. Don’t worry, Diwas is driving!!! We’ve got a funny radio show on and the sky is clear!

Beloved Binge, Rogue Band of Youth, and The Shelles are all on the line up tonight, with us somewhere in the mix 🙂 If you are in the area, come out and hang with us!!!

Friday 12/19 at Velvet Lounge D.C.

Friday night we have a fun show planned in D.C. with indie duo Ms Fridrich and folk solo artist Sean Barna at the Velvet Lounge. Both are local to the D.C. area, so it will be our first time meeting them seeing their live performances! Ms Fridrich will open the show around 9:15pm, followed by us, then Sean Barna. If you are in the D.C. area, definitely come out tomorrow night to Velvet Lounge! FB Event here

So amped about shows! Next: 12/9 @ Silvana NYC

Okay so it seems lately that all I post about are show announcements! I didn’t even really realize it, but looking over my last few blog posts and tweets, it’s just one show after the next! I guess you can see where my head is at these days. Playing live music. I LOVE it. And December is full of shows that I am super psyched about. How did I go from being someone who was sure that they had some form of paralyzing performance anxiety, to someone who craves playing shows all of the time?! The trick that I realized is this: It’s all about having fun and experiencing each moment 🙂

Next on the list is this Tuesday, Dec 9th, at Silvana in the upper west side NYC. It is a middle eastern restaurant and I’m almost as excited about having dinner as I am about playing. Here is the FB event.

Listen With Monger

Listen With Monger is a blog by Roland Monger from West Country, United Kingdom. If you are looking for new music, I definitely recommend checking this out! He’s got really great taste in his selection and he pulls in a lot of knowledge about bands and songs to present music from a cool new angle. Basically, he know his stuff and he knows it well.

Annnd he reviewed Confluence of Anomalies!! So yeah, we are officially big Listen With Monger fans 🙂

Interview w/ Azltron Music Blog

Earlier this month, we had the pleasure of meeting the man behind the Azltron Music Blog at the Ithaca Festival. Today he shares an interview covering the formation of our band, how we write songs and what’s in store for us this summer. Check it out here!

Hailing from Oswego, Azltron is a major supporter of the upstate NY music scene. The blog covers photos and reviews of live shows in nearby cities, band interviews, and music reviews. June marked the beginning of a music series organized in partnership with ZINC Shirts, a screen printing shop and live music venue in Oswego. We will be heading up to Oswego to participate in the series this fall and we are super excited!

Now, since I’m a plant science nerd, let’s say that music blogs today are the soil and all of the unsigned indie bands are the plants. Without the support of blogs like Azltron, we would just be shriveled seeds!

That is why we are super thankful for this interview and the other bloggers that have supported us since the release of our EP in January. (aka nurtured our root growth, if you know what I mean – winky winks 😉 )

Now where you come in – you can be the water. Tweet this interview, or support Azltron music blog however which way you desire, and let’s keep this little music ecosystem alive!
