2016 Winter, I like you after all!

2016 is shaping up to be a music filled year! We’ve been busy recording our next song which I can’t wait to share with everyone. It will be released very soon as a single.

This year marks our first official winter in NYC and it is not so bad. Nothing slows down this city – we’re playing more shows now in winter than we did last fall! It’s been great to get out to different areas of the city to explore new venues even in the cold weather.

Silvana in Harlem is one place we played at recently for the second time and we hope to plan a third! It’s such an amazing restaurant/bar/venue. Delicious middle eastern food, hookah lounge, friendly staff and great beer selection.

Next week on 2/18 we’re playing at Hill & Dale which I have never been to, so let’s see how it goes! All info about that show can be found here: http://on.fb.me/1zN0HhP

Silvana NYC

It has been a little less than a year since we made the move down to Brooklyn, and we’ve spent most of that time hanging in our little neighborhood, venturing out every now and then to lower east side Manhattan to play and see shows! Last Tuesday was our first time going all the way up to Harlem. Oh it seemed so far at first! But as soon as we walked into Silvana, we knew that it would be the first of many times making our way up there. This was a cool spot. Silvana is a middle eastern restaurant, bar, and music venue, with delicious food, cozy seating, and hookah that you can order to your table. It had warm and cozy vibes that kind of reminded us of a venue that used to be around in Ithaca, called The Lost Dog.

When we walked in, a super talented group of musicians, called R.O.T.I, were tearing it up on stage and we immediately found a spot at the bar to enjoy the music that these guys were making. Just when I was thinking to myself, ‘wow these guys are cool,’ a vocal guest, Likwuid, came on stage and to use a quote from Emeril, she ‘kicked it up a notch!’ It was awesome. I definitely had to meet this girl!

The bill that night also included a sweet prog rock band, called theSHIFT, who we highly recommend checking out. They play regularly at Rockwood! And closing the night, a beautiful set by Taylor Rich, who was also the organizer of the event, (and head of Flaca Music!) She performed with guest vocalist and cellist, Kim Vogel. These ladies sang mesmerizing songs with a folky vibe.

After our set, we ordered the lamb shawarma, it was yummy 🙂

So amped about shows! Next: 12/9 @ Silvana NYC

Okay so it seems lately that all I post about are show announcements! I didn’t even really realize it, but looking over my last few blog posts and tweets, it’s just one show after the next! I guess you can see where my head is at these days. Playing live music. I LOVE it. And December is full of shows that I am super psyched about. How did I go from being someone who was sure that they had some form of paralyzing performance anxiety, to someone who craves playing shows all of the time?! The trick that I realized is this: It’s all about having fun and experiencing each moment 🙂

Next on the list is this Tuesday, Dec 9th, at Silvana in the upper west side NYC. It is a middle eastern restaurant and I’m almost as excited about having dinner as I am about playing. Here is the FB event.
